scameel scamazel – ya I am in Milwaukee

November 14, 2008

You have heard the theme song before, but have you ever been bored enough to google what “scameel” or “scamazel” meant?

These are Yiddish words for the two types of losers. A Schlameel is a basic loser, though his own doing – incompetent in all aspects of life.  A Schlimaazal is a loser through someone else’s doing – – basically a person with lots of bad luck through no fault of his own.

The saying goes that a Schlameel is a person who goes around spilling his soup. A Schlimaazal is the person he spills it on.

I have a whole new appreciation for the show.

Len, I am sorry for spilling soup on you
